Geelong Community Greek School is a not-for-profit educational centre dedicated to promoting Greek language, culture, and heritage within the Geelong community. We offer engaging Greek language lessons and traditional Greek dancing, fostering a strong sense of cultural identity and connection among students of all ages.
Our academic year aligns with the standard school terms, and classes are conveniently held in the Geelong CBD on Tuesdays from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm.
We cater to students of all ages, including children, teenagers, and adults, offering classes designed for learners at every stage. Our adult classes provide a friendly and supportive environment for those wishing to learn or maintain the Greek language, explore traditional and modern Greek dances, and engage more deeply with Greek culture.
Students have the opportunity to showcase their learning and talents through a variety of special cultural events and performances, including Pako Festa, Greek Independence Day celebrations, the Annual Greek School Ball, and our Christmas festivities. These events allow students to perform plays, recite poems, sing traditional songs, and present Greek dances, providing them with a platform to celebrate their heritage and develop confidence in public performance.
The Greek School is staffed by a combination of qualified teachers provided by the Government of Greece through the Embassy in Melbourne and dedicated local educators. Our comprehensive curriculum covers Greek language, traditional and modern dancing, history, and Greek mythology, ensuring that students gain a deep and meaningful understanding of Greek culture alongside their language studies.
The Geelong Community Greek School are proud to provide a welcoming and inclusive environment where students of all ages can learn, celebrate, and carry forward the rich traditions of Greece.
