St Irene
5 May
We honour the Holy Great Martyr Irene, one of the most venerated female saints of the Orthodox Church. Saint Irene suffered greatly for her faith and is celebrated for her courage, steadfastness and devotion to Christ. Her name, meaning “peace” in Greek, reflects the gift she brought to all those she led to the Christian faith.
Name day: Eirini / Irene
